Chevrolet has shown off the new Trailblazer SUV at the 2019 LA Auto Show. It will go on sale from Spring of 2020. Borrowing design cues from the larger Blazer SUV, the Trailblazer will be priced under $20,000 (Rs. 14,37,150), and will be presented in Activ and RS trim levels.
Much smaller in size when compared to the Trailblazer we had last seen in India, the new Chevrolet Trailblazer will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which was also launched at the same LA Auto Show in the US today.
Stuart Norris, design director of global Chevrolet compact SUVs says, “The Trailblazer doesn’t simply let customers express their personal style. It encourages it with uniquely styled trims that allow buyers to select a vehicle that reflects their lifestyle. Its design is bold, confident and full of personality.”
The five seater Chevrolet Trailblazer Activ will be a off-road variant unlike the RS variant which will look sportier. The Activ gets a larger grille, 17” wheels and Hankook Sport Terrain tyres.
The RS trim has a different grille design to set it apart along with a black bow tie emblem. Both variant are finished in a dual tone colour scheme with the Active model receiving a white contrasting roof while the RS variant gets a black roof.
The interiors are seen with a spacious cabin due to an extended wheelbase and a host of standard features along with extensive safety equipment. Total cargo space will be at 54 cu.ft while second row seats folded in a 60:40 ratio.
Touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be offered as options. In terms of safety, the Trailblazer will receive forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and rear view camera. It also gets OnStar connected services and an HD rear view camera, rear parking assist and adaptive cruise control which will be offered as options.
Chevrolet Trailblazer will be presented in twin turbocharged, 3 cylinder engine options. The 1.2 liter engine will offer 137 hp power and 162 lb/ft (220 Nm) torque while the 1.3 liter unit will be capable of 155 hp power and 174 lb/ft (235 Nm) torque. Transmission on the 1.2 liter engine will include continuous variable transmission while the 1.3 liter engine gets an all wheel drive system mated to a 9 speed automatic transmission.
All new Chevrolet Trailblazer compact crossover will be positioned between the Trax and Equinox and priced from approximately $20,000. It enters a segment wherein it will compete with the likes of Jeep Compass, Nissan Rogue Sport, Encore GX, Kia Seltos and Mazda CX-30.
