18 year old rides New Delhi to Mumbai and back, on a gearless scooter

Last week, we told you about a 19 yr old rider who is one of the first to ride all the way to Spiti valley on a Honda Activa. This week, we will tell you about another spirited rider, who has achieved a memorable feat at just 18 years of age.

Inspired By India’s top Moto-Vlogger Mumbiker Nikhil aka Nikhil Sharma, an 18 year old Hotel Management student, Lakshay Anand, has successfully completed ride from New Delhi to Mumbai on a scooter. He completed the ride in 33 hours on 8th March and did not undergo any special training to complete this feat.

Astride a TVS Jupiter, Lakshay, who has only been riding since the past 6 months, preferred the scooter, which apparently is the only bike in his possession. He has regaled the reliable TVS Jupiter for its excellent on-road performance besides ample storage and excellent mileage. The ride was funded by his parents as he looks ahead to coming in contact with sponsors for undertaking such rides in the future.

The young rider met with many other riders en-route among which were also riders from The Gearless Club. Lakshay had to tackle the vagaries of nature, hunger and long hours without sleep to accomplish this feat while he was armed with energy bars and bottles of water. He had to take regular stops to not only fuel his bike but also fuel himself so as to stay fit and alert while on the road. Starting off from New Delhi, he rode through Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Vadodara, Surat and finally reached Mumbai on 8th March 2017. He spent a total of INR 7,500 on fuel alone.

Cruising at a constant speed between 60-70 kmph while on the highway but down to 20-30 kmph under bad road conditions, Lakhsay completed the journey. The highlight of this ride was that he got to meet a famous YouTuber from Mumbai.

Lakshay’s dream is to one day own a Honda Goldwing and while he enjoyed his ride and gained a lot of experience along this journey, he has warned other riders undertaking such a challenge to be wary of highway thieves and to avoid rides during the night.

Stay updated with his rides by following him on Instagram.
