New Fiat Cronos sedan revealed – Is the successor to Linea

First official images of the soon to be launched 2018 Fiat Cronos sedan have been revealed. This is an Argo based sedan, that will be produced in Cordoba (Argentina) and set for sales across Brazil in first quarter of 2018.

2018 Fiat Cronos will compete against the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and the Hyundai Verna. It will be entirely based on the Argo with several common exterior and interior features. Argo is for the European market whereas the Cronos is for the developing markets like Brazil and hopefully India.

It shares the headlamp and hood design with the Argo hatchback though the front grille sports a new design with smaller mesh and thicker surrounds. The front bumper design is also distinctive to the Cronos sedan with larger air intakes and higher set fog lamp housings. Towards the rear, the new Cronos gets wraparound tail lamps, LED inserts and a well designed trunk with an integrated rear spoiler. Boot space will be at a premium on the Fiat Cronos surpassing all its rivals in capacity.

Interiors of Cronos sedan will have design and material as seen on the Argo. It gets a large multimedia center with 7” floating screen offered as standard. It also gets an LCD screen for on-board computer which is offered as an option.

The Brazil spec Fiat Cronos will be powered by a 1.3 liter petrol engine and a 1.8 liter flex fuel engine offering 107.5 bhp power and 137 bhp power respectively. Both engines get mated to 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic gearbox.

While Fiat has stated that 2018 Cronos sedan will replace the Linea, it is not yet revealed as to whether Fiat will be bringing the new Cronos sedan to India. If it is launched in India, 2018 Fiat Cronos will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento.
