New Ford EcoSport unveiled – To get 3 cyl 1.5 L petrol 120 PS engine

Launched in India back in 2013, the EcoSport compact SUV soon became Ford India’s best-seller. Even after more than 3 years, the car is still the best-selling Ford in India. With competition growing and new cars being launched in the segment, the EcoSport has been losing steam against rivals off late.

In order to get back in the game, Ford India is getting ready to give the EcoSport a mid-life facelift. On the outside, the new EcoSport gets a revised front, thanks to new headlight cluster (with projector headlamps and LED DRLs), reprofiled bumper, foglights, grille and a skid plate. Rear too gets revised taillight and new bumper. Overall, the new EcoSport looks more attractive and stylish than before.

On the inside, 2017 Ford EcoSport comes with a new dashboard design whose highlight is the infotainment system in the center with large 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system. This is a much needed updated since the current EcoSport comes with a tiny screen in the name of infotainment system.

The infotainment system adopts Ford’s new SYNC3 operating system to offer seamless connectivity with your smartphone. It also gets navigations, parking sensor, rear parking camera, advanced audio system with 10 speaker Bang & Olufsen system that delivers 675 watts of power.

Powering the new Ford EcoSport will be all-new Dragon range of turbocharged petrol engine option. This will be in the form of 1.5 liter three cylinder engine which will deliver 120 PS of power (making it the most powerful petrol car in the segment). In addition to this, the 1.0L EcoBoost and 1.5 liter four cylinder diesel engine option will also be on offer.

This means that the entry level EcoSport petrol variant will be more powerful and fuel efficient than ever before. Launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks. Expect price to start in the INR 6-7 lakh range, which will make it aggressively priced to take on the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Tata Nexon.
