The new Ford Endeavour (Everest in international markets) which is getting ready to go on sale in India anytime soon has passed the Australian NCAP crash tests with top honors. The 7-seat premium SUV scored the maximum rating of 5 Stars by garnering 35.38 of the available 37 points.
The safety rating is made possible by the Endeavour’s front airbags, driver knee airbag, side curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control and seat belt reminders.
The ladder frame SUV scored 15.98 out of 16 points in the frontal offset test and full 16 points in the side impact test. Protection against whiplash is rated as ‘good’ while the pedestrian safety is rated as ‘acceptable’. The safety rating would be a strong selling point for the SUV.

Underpinned by the Ranger T6 pickup’s platform, the Toyota Fortuner rival is powered by set of diesel engines displacing 3.2- and 2.2-litre. Both manual and automatic transmissions are on offer. The India-spec variant is likely to be available with both RWD and 4×4 configurations.
With a bold exterior, upmarket interior design and comprehensive features list, the new SUV is light years ahead of its predecessor. With an estimated price range of INR 27-32 lakhs (ex-showroom), the new Ford Endeavour would take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, SsangYong Rexton and Hyundai Santa Fe.
