The new Ford Figo hatchback is scheduled to go on sale tomorrow and we have all the vital details already, save for the prices of course. The car is basically a bootless variant of the Figo Aspire.
The design is carried over from the Figo Aspire so there are no surprise. Starting from the front fascia with an Aston Martin-like grille, all the way up to C-pillar, there are absolutely no differences between the hatchback and sedan. The hatch gets a more steeply tapered C-pillar, a wedge shaped hatch door, wraparound taillights and a muscular bumper.

The new Figo’s sporty all-black dashboard looks modern and is packed with features. The design is identical to that of the Aspire and has a familiar Ford aura to it. A chunky three-spoke mulifunction steering wheel with silver accents. a silver finished centre console with buttons for music system, a SYNC 2.0 display are the interior highlights.
The top-end variant gets sporty dual-tone black seat fabrics with contrast stitching. Considering that the cabin design and layout is shared with the Aspire, one can safety expect ample space at the rear and enough storage solutions.

Engines and Gearbox
Like its sedan brother, new Figo hatchback is all set to offer a wide range of powertrain options to suite everybody’s taste.
The base engine is a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT four-cylinder petrol unit with variable valve timing. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the mill is capable of producing 88 PS and 112 Nm of torque.
The top-end petrol engine is a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT four-cylinder power plant which also powers the EcoSport. Available exclusively with the 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission, this engine pumps out 112 PS and 136 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful hatchback this side of INR 10 lakhs.
The volume spinner however is expected to be the 1.5-litre TDCI diesel engine. The oil burner is tuned to deliver a healthy 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed manual, this motor managed to impress us under the Figo Aspire’s hood.
While we wait for the official ARAI certified mileage figures of the new Ford Figo hatchback, figures of the sedan variant can be taken as good references. The 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel motors deliver 18.2 kmpl and 25.8 kmpl respectively while propelling the heavier Asprie so one can expect higher figures for the hatchback variant.
