New Gen Fiat Punto spied testing in Brazil

The test mule of new gen Fiat Punto spied on test in Brazil, in the Betim region, close to the company plant, was in complete camouflage state. In spite of that, some details of what can be expected on the 2017 Fiat Punto were evident.

New gen Fiat Punto is codenamed X6H as on date. Featuring production ready kits like the swept back headlamps, new multi spoke alloy wheels, ORVM mounted on window cladding and tail lamps were spied in a vertical orientation; this variant is good enough to be a pre-production model.

The spy images first surfaced on Brazilian websites, which claim that the new Punto will designed more on the lines of a new gen Palio, than that of a new Punto. This could be because the company believes that Punto design has been around for a long time, and needs to be changed completely. (Not a comparison, but we all know what happened to Bolt. Though a completely new car, buyers still relate it to the Indica, which was launched in late 90s)

2017 Fait Punto spy shots also indicate that the car has a longer wheelbase as compared to the current Punto. This will increase the car’s stability even further along with driving dynamics. Speaking about engine specifications, new Punto is likely to be seen with new 1.4 GSE – Global Small Engine platform, and E-Torq 1.6 liter & 1.8 liter engine.

Set to succeed the Punto in Brazil, it is not yet ascertained if it will do the same across Europe. However, it is confirmed that the next generation Fiat Punto will also be making its way to India sometime in 2017.
