The trio of 1.5L engines (2 Petrol, 1 Diesel) on current model is likely to power the New Gen Kia Seltos when launched
Kia started its journey in the Indian market with the launch of Seltos compact SUV. This was their maiden product that had just the right amount of X factor to make a dent in Indian SUV market. The company updated Seltos in July 2023 and a new Generation model is already brewing in South Korea.
One might be thinking that it is too soon to launch a new Seltos while the current model came out just 17 months ago. For Kia, continuous evolution seems to be the mantra and a new Generation of Seltos has commenced testing in South Korea. Recent spy shots show the imposing front fascia.
New Gen Kia Seltos Front Design
After Syros, Kia has taken up a new development. Seltos SUV is the subject for this generational upgrade and testing of this vehicle has already commenced in South Korea. Latest spy shots show New Gen Seltos’ front fascia. We can see that the new Seltos is getting a Telluride-inspired design.
It is not a bad thing as Telluride is Kia’s flagship ICE SUV and it gets a simple yet imposing design. We can see a strong fascia with boxy headlights. Grill is large and lends a sporty appeal. Telluride SUV also gets similar design attributes and is among the most handsome and non-convoluting designs from Kia.
Seltos is a global vehicle too and offering a smaller vehicle with the same design language as Telluride might work wonders for this vehicle. There are front parking sensors and radar module for ADAS. At the back, we have vertically elongated LED signatures for tail lights, again similar to what is offered with Telluride.
What are the expected features?
On the inside, New Gen Kia Seltos might feature the same design language as Syros. A new 2-spoke steering with an off-centre Kia logo, large touchscreen infotainment and instrument screens, a HUD for safer journeys, more soft-touch materials for a plusher appeal, front and rear ventilated seats among others.
Under the bonnet, New Gen Kia Seltos might pack the same powertrains as current model. So, the same 1.5L NA Petrol, 1.5L Turbo Petrol and 1.5L Turbo Diesel engines are likely. Gearbox options will be plenty too, considering it is a Kia. Launch is likely to happen by 2025 end or early 2026.
In India, Kia is prepping the launch of their new radical SUV, Syros. It will feature a design language unlike any other vehicles sold in India and will establish an X factor. Slated to break covers on December 19th, excitement around Syros is definitely high.
