First launched in 2011, the second generation of Evoque made its debut in Nov 2018. Now, it has arrived in India.
Built on Land Rover’s Premium Transverse Architecture, new Evoque is more spacious on the inside, all intelligently managed in the compact proportions Evoque dwells on. Cargo space too is lightly improved, and with rear seats folded, it expands to 1430 litres. New gen Range Rover Evoque shares styling cues with the bigger Velar. For the brand, Evoque is one of its highest selling models.
Speaking about price, the base Evoque will cost you Rs 54.94 lakh, thats about Rs 3 lakh price hike on the BS4 base variant. What is interesting to know, is that the price of top variant BS6 has gone down. The BS4 top variant was priced at approx Rs 63 lakhs, now costs Rs 59.85 lakh in the BS6 trim. All prices are ex-sh.
Modern in every sense, Evoque features LED headlamps and tail lamps, bumper updates, flush door handles, and a mesh grille. The side body looks more or less similar to the outgoing Evoque. On the inside are twin touchscreen displays, for infotainment, AC and other controls.
ClearSight Ground View tech allows the driver to view the space under the hood and front basis a 180-degree ground view on the display. A rear-facing HDR camera mounted to the roof for a rear view camera feed. The earlier gear shift dial has been updated with a more traditional yet modern gearstick lever.
Range Rover Evoque now features BS6-compliant 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. The petrol returns 247bhp and 365Nm of torque with a mild hybrid system, and diesel delivers 178bhp and 430Nm of torque. Power is sent to all 4 wheels via nine-speed automatic transmission. The BS6 compliant 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol and diesel engines have already been introduced in Jaguar XE in December 2019.
Other features include Touch Pro Duo system with a ten-inch touchscreen HD entertainment system, and built-in navigation. The adjacent 10-inch touchscreen is used to control vehicle settings. There’s a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, head-up display (HUD), powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and more.
Jaguar Land Rover India says that they are BSVI ready, and one can hope to see the Land Rover Defender and Jaguar I-Pace BSVI soon. The brand says its market share is upto 16 percent in respective segments. Available in exterior colours Fuji White, Kaikura Stone, Firenze Red, Santorini Black, Tiger Grey and Silicon Silver, Evoque is now available at a starting price of Rs 54.94 lakhs. Delivery for Land Rover Evoque diesel variants begin now, and petrol variants will follow soon.
