New gen VW Vento (Polo sedan) spied undisguised, specs detailed
2018 VW Vento (Polo sedan) is slated to make its global debut in November 2017. India launch is expected to take place next year.
Set to compete against Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna, 2018 VW Vento (Polo sedan) has been spied undisguised. To be called as the VW Virtus sedan in the international market, it is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0 platform.
Once launched, it will replace the existing Vento / Polo sedan on sale in several markets across the globe. It will share common underpinnings with the new gen Polo. It will be produced from the company’s Anchieta plant, in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil.
New gen VW Vento will be offered in two engine options of 120 hp 1.6 litre MSI and 128 hp 1.0 litre TSI. The 1.6 liter engine will be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission while the 1.0 liter engine gets a 6 speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
In terms of features, the new Volkswagen Vento will receive a lower grille as compared to that seen on the 2017 VW Polo. It will also get wrap around tail lamps, alloy wheels, integrated daytime running lights and an integrated spoiler giving it a more premium stance.
Interiors will not sport many changes and looks strikingly similar to the 2017 Polo with its 3 spoke multifunction steering wheel, 10” virtual instrument cluster, 8” touchscreen infotainment system and AC vents.
Positioned on a longer wheelbase of 2,546mm, the sedan offers increased space in its interiors. Leather seats and other driver and passenger comfort and safety features will also be evident but not revealed as on date. With the new VW Vento (VW Polo sedan) also slated for launch in India, prices are expected to range between INR 10-15 lakhs.
