New Hero Destini 125, Maestro 125 dealer debut – Honda Activa rivals launch before Diwali

Showcased at 2018 Auto Expo as Maestro Edge and Duet in the 125cc guise, production version of Duet is now named Destini 125. The two new scooters and the new name were revealed at an event held for company dealers at the Buddh International Circuit. Though the Duet 125 gets named Destini 125, design and mechanics remain the same as that seen earlier this year.

Set for launch in India by the festive season, Maestro Edge 125 will be positioned as a premium family scooter while Destini 125 will sit above all others in the company lineup.

Both these upcoming scooters have been designed and developed at Hero Center for Innovation and Technology, Jaipur. Onboard features include LED tail lamps, internal fuel filling, boot light and mobile charging port. The scooters will also receive an analog digital instrument cluster and will sit on 90/100-10 section tubeless tyres at the front and rear.

Destini and Maestro Edge will get i3S idle start/stop technology, drum brakes at the front and rear and Integrated Braking System which will result in improved mileage and enhanced braking performance. The two bikes will also be fitted with telescopic forks and hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and rear respectively.

Hero Destini 125 will be seen in an all metal body and four paint schemes of Noble Red, Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black, and Pearl Silver White. It will measure 1,830mm in length, 726mm in width and 1,155 mm in height while wheelbase will be 1,245mm long with 155mm ground clearance.

Engine specifications on Hero Destini 125 and Maestro Edge 125 will be a 124.6cc, single cylinder engine offering 8.7 bhp power at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm torque at 5,000 rpm mated to a Variomatic Drive Automatic Transmission.

Hero Destini 125 will carry a higher price as compared to the Maestro Edge 125. It will compete with the Honda Activa, Suzuki Burgman Street, Honda Grazia, Vespa LX 125, Aprilia SR 125 and Suzuki Access 125 upon launch in India.
