Ninth generation Honda Accord is already on sale in US markets since July 2015. Expected to be launched in India this year, it is now showcased in India at the ongoing Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Once launched in India, it will rival the likes of Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb.
Honda Accord is powered by a 2.4 liter, four cylinder i-VTEC engine offering 185 hp peak power and mated to a CVT gearbox. It is also offered with a Hybrid engine. In its hybrid format it gets a 2.0 liter, four cylinder engine and a 125 kW electric motor offering combined power of 196 hp via an E-CVT. Honda could launch the petrol variant first, and then launch the hybrid variant too, considering the success Camry Hybrid has met in the segment.
2016 Honda Accord gets new headlamps and taillamp clusters with LEDs, chrome grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers. It sits on 19” alloy alloys. Based on the ‘Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’ philosophy cabin space on offer is more than before, in spite of the fact that the car is 24 kgs lighter. Interiors comes fully loaded with all the latest in car technology, including a 7” touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Expect the new Honda Accord to be priced at around INR 28 lakhs once launched in India.
