CNG conversion for the new Amaze will be done at the dealership level in partnership with RTO approved CNG fitment centres
Honda currently does not offer factory-fitted CNG option like other OEMs. However, as there’s significant demand for CNG, select Honda dealers currently have this facility for their customers. It covers Honda cars such as Amaze, City and Elevate. Now, even the new-gen Amaze is available for CNG conversion at the dealer level.
New Honda Amaze – Seamless CNG conversion
3rd-gen Honda Amaze has received a comprehensive update including segment-first ADAS package. However, the engine option is the same as the outgoing model. Since CNG conversion was already available with the old Amaze, the new model with the same engine does not present any major challenges in the CNG retrofitting process. Several Honda dealers have already established partnerships with RTO-approved CNG retrofitting centres. Honda has also been directing its dealers to make the relevant arrangements, as needed for CNG retrofitting.
The only hassle could be a slightly longer registration process. That’s because the vehicle is first registered as a petrol car and later changed to a petrol-CNG after the CNG conversion process. Another thing worth mentioning is that the CNG conversion for new Amaze will be available only for private buyers. Choosing CNG with Amaze also means that only the manual transmission option will be available.
No compromise on warranty
Customers who choose dealer-provided CNG option with the new Amaze won’t have to worry about things like warranty getting void. To ensure that factory warranty is applicable even after the CNG conversion, some additional documentation will be done at the dealer level.
New Honda Amaze is available with Standard Warranty of 3 years/unlimited kilometres. The Extended Warranty is applicable for up to 7 years/unlimited kilometres. The Anytime Warranty covers up to 10 years / 1.20 lakh kilometres.
Performance drop
Powering the new Honda Amaze is the same 1.2-litre water cooled, 4-cylinder engine. It generates 90 PS and 110 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT. When running on CNG, the output numbers will drop slightly. But consumers will be able to access a higher mileage with Amaze CNG. When running on petrol, new Amaze has a rated fuel efficiency of 18.65 km/L with the manual and 19.46 km/L with the CVT gearbox.
New Amaze CNG Pricing
It is estimated that the CNG conversion cost for the new Amaze could be around Rs 1 lakh. This approximate figure also applies to most other CNG cars manufactured by OEMs like Maruti, Tata, and Hyundai. For example, the new Maruti Dzire ZXi is available at a starting price of Rs 8.89 lakh. And the ZXi CNG is priced at Rs 9.84 lakh. Only difference is that Maruti, Tata and Hyundai offer factory-fitted CNG, whereas Honda is offering CNG conversion at dealer level. The cost of conversion to CNG and applicable taxes may vary from state to state.
