The New Honda CBR500R has been unveiled with an edgier design and enhanced equipment. The middle weight fully faired sportsbike continues to cater to the A2 license holders under the European norms.
Visually, the updated motorcycle adopts the “Aggressive Speed Shape” design philosophy, sporting a sharper fairing with new twin LED headlamps, a black insert in the middle, larger side panels and new decals. A larger fuel tank, a shorter muffler (improves mass centralization) and a revised tailpiece with grab recess make the new CBR500R more modern and dynamic.
Other noteworthy changes include hinged fuel filler cap, wave-style ignition key, adjustable handlebar levers and three new color options. The 471 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor continues to pump out 47 PS.
The CBR500R is suspended by 41 mm telescopic fork upfront and mono shock at the rear with spring pre-load. The front and rear wheels are shod with 120/70-17 and 160/60-17 tyres respectively.
The new Honda CBR500R is expected to go on sale in the international markets later this year with a marginal hike in the price. It remains to be seen if Honda Motorcycle Scooter India is interested in bringing the sportsbike to India via CKD route (just like the CBR650F).
