2018 Honda Dio launched in India – Gets LED headlight

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has launched the updated Dio with new colours and BSIV compliant engine. Price starts from Rs 53,292, ex-showroom.

Two wheeler manufacturers, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), has updated the Dio scooter lineup. It sports five new colour options, a new 3D emblem while body colored grab rail has also been added. Price of the 2017 Honda Dio starts from INR 49,132 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

New Honda Dio is powered by a BSIV compliant 109.2 cc air cooled, single cylinder engine capable of 8 bhp peak power at 7,000 rpm and 8.77 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm mated to a V-Matic transmission. Top speed stands at 83kmph.

Colour options on offer are Dazzle Yellow Metallic, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Matte Marshal Green Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black. Speaking about features, the new Honda Dio is lighter than the older Dio by 2 kgs. This has resulted in slightly better acceleration. Ground clearance remains same at 158 mm while seat height is at 765 mm.

Changes on board the new 2017 Dio are the addition of colourful new graphics, revised instrument cluster, revised front, LED positioning lamp, mobile charging socket, and AHO – Always Headlamp On.

Tyres are 10 inch tubeless from MRF while braking power is provided by drum brakes – no disc brakes on offer. It also gets Honda’s Combi-Brake system.

Honda Dio has been a popular model both in India and overseas markets. It is being exported to Latin America, South America, Sri Lanka and Nepal while new export markets are on the cards. Honda Dio competes with Yamaha Cygnus Ray Z, TVS NTorq and Hero Duet. Retaining its leadership position in the scooter segment in India, HMSI’s scooter portfolio includes the Dio, Activa i, Activa 4G, Aviator, Activa 125 besides the recently launched Honda Navi.
