The five door 2018 Hyundai Accent subcompact sedan, currently on display at the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show is tailored to suit the demands of Canadian buyers. As of now, it has no plans to be sold anywhere else other than the North American market. But the possibility of the new Accent becoming a global car are not ruled out.
Compared to the old Accent which was on sale in India a few years ago, after which the brand name was discontinued – the new Accent grows in dimension, style, and comes with a lot of new features.
Exteriors of 2018 Hyundai Accent are more attractive and seen with new grille, revised head lights and wraparound tail lamps as is also seen on the new Elantra GT. In terms of safety, the new Hyundai Accent receives Autonomous Emergency Braking system and a rear view camera. It gets a strengthened chassis offering better front crumple zone, while front side airbags get upgrades.
Where cabin comforts are concerned, 2018 Hyundai Accent sports a new 7” touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with voice controlled search, dual USB and Auxiliary input jacks. The inside is finished in all black, and to keep the sporty look, it also gets red accents on the dashboard, seats, doors and gear lever.
2018 Hyundai Accent is powered by a new 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder engine offering 132 hp power and 119 lb/ft torque showing significant improvement over the engine on the outgoing model. Acceleration time on 40-80 kmph is cut by 0.2 seconds while there is a 1.3 second improvement in the 80-120 kmph acceleration.
The engine gets mated to a 6 speed manual transmission or 6 speed auto as per buyer’s preference while the engine also offers better fuel efficiency, consuming 7 percent less fuel thanks to low friction piston rings, an enhanced ECU and variable fuel pressure module.
