New Hyundai Elantra spied on test in India ahead of launch

2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift is getting ready for India launch. Already launched in some countries, the new Elantra sedan gets revamped exteriors and interiors. It will be seen with triangular shaped headlamps, a cascading front grille, new bumper design at the front and rear and a restyled bonnet.

At the rear, the new Elantra will also get new fog lamps and tail lamps with an LED graphic pattern. It will sit on new wheels and get a boot end spoiler. The latest spy shots of the new Elantra are credit to automotive enthusiast Jim John, who spotted the car in BHEL area of Hyderabad.

Like the exteriors, interiors too have been revised. 2019 Hyundai Elantra interiors gain a new touchscreen infotainment system measuring 8” and supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel will be seen with mounted controls while seating also gets redesigned for better comfort.

It will also be seen with steering mounted controls, rear view camera and other safety features. This could include Hyundai SmartSense safety package, which will have Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Alert.

2019 Elantra’s petrol and diesel engine options will continue to be same as today. The 2.0 liter petrol engine offers 149.5 PS power at 6,200 rpm and 192 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm. The 1.6 liter VGT CRDi diesel engine will be capable of 128 PS power at 4,000 rpm and 260 Nm torque at 1,900-2,750 rpm mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and 6 speed automatic transmissions. Engine might be updated to meet BS6 norms. Mileage on the petrol engine is pegged at around 15 kmpl while the diesel engine is rated to deliver 22.7 kmpl.

The new Hyundai Elantra will have to contend with the likes of Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla. Currently, Elantra is the least selling car in the segment, with about 60 units sold a month. Honda Civic is the best seller in the segment with about 250 units sold a month. Launch of Elantra facelift could help boost Elantra sales in India. Price of the Hyundai Elantra facelift could fall within the Rs.14-20 lakh price range.

Ahead of the launch of new Elantra, select Hyundai dealers in India are selling the current Elantra at huge discount offers. Along with benefit and exchange, total discount value is up to Rs 2 lakh on a brand new Elantra in India.
