New Hyundai Elite i20 facelift AT spied – To launch at Auto Expo 2018
The front and rear fascias will be revised significantly.
Launched in 2014, the brisk selling Hyundai Elite i20 is almost due for a mid-life refresh. A camouflaged test mule of the facelifted hatchback has been spotted testing, indicating that Hyundai is well on track for a Auto Expo 2018 launch. This was spied along with the new Hyundai Santro.
From what we see, Elite i20 facelift is set to receive significant visual updates. The biggest change is the deletion of two-part grille in favor of a larger hexagonal unit with chrome slats like in Elantra. The headlamps and bumper have also been redesigned to give the car Hyundai’s latest family identity.
Side profile has been left intact but going by the level of concealment at the rear, we expect a comprehensive design overhaul. Another update on the side is the addition of new alloys, this was revealed by previous spy shots. These new alloys are inspired by the one’s we have already seen on the Mercedes CLA Class. Interiors are not visible in the spyshots as they have been covered. But expect noticeable updates and feature additions.
Under the skin, Hyundai Elite i20 facelift is expected to retain the existing range of 1.2- and 1.4-liter petrol engines and the 1.4-liter diesel engine. Hyundai could also offer its latest 1.0-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol unit that is available in the European markets.
The updated Hyundai i20 will also feature more features than on offer with the current i20. Driving dynamics will remain same as today. More details are expected to be revealed in a few weeks.
