New Hyundai Santro accelerates to avoid getting spied, Engine sound – Video

Hyundai Santro, codenamed AH2 as on date, has been spied on test across various parts of India, though heavily camouflaged. Set to make a comeback this year, after ruling the segment for nearly 16 years, the 2018 Hyundai Santro will be positioned on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.

Expected to be more premium as compared to its earlier counterpart which was pulled out of production in 2014, the new Hyundai Santro could be priced between INR 3-5 lakhs. Below is the latest spy video which was shot by Rushlane reader Pravin. The driver of the Santro saw Pravin taking a video and decided to accelerate. You can also get an idea of how the car will sound from the video.

Hyundai Santro will sport increased dimensions. It will be seen with a cascading front grille, an aggressive bumper design, fluidic headlamps, LED DRLs and larger windows.

Interiors will be more spacious thanks to its increased dimensions and will also get upgraded with better seating, climate controls and dashboard mounted touchscreen infotainment system.

Engines expected to be seen powering the 2018 Hyundai Santro could include a 1.1 liter, 3 cylinder petrol engine offering 70 PS power and 100 Nm torque mated to an automatic manual transmission. This engine will comply with current emission norms and offer fuel efficiency to the tune of 22 kmpl.

Considering rising demand for automatic options even where entry level cars are concerned, Hyundai could also considering offering an AMT option while a factory fitted CNG kit could also make its way onto the 2018 Hyundai Santro.

The new Santro will be positioned between the Hyundai Eon and Hyundai Grand i10 while it will compete against the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki Celerio and WagonR.
