To be launched on 22nd August, new Hyundai Verna has been detailed via leaked brochure. In its new avatar, Verna measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,729 mm in width, 1,475 mm in height and sits on a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
New Hyundai Verna is available in a choice of two engines: 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel (1.4L engine options are not on offer, if we are to believe the leaked brochure). The 1,591cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 123 PS at 6,400 rpm and 155 Nm of torque at 4,850 rpm. The 1,582cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine returns 128 PS at 4,000 rpm and 260 Nm at 1,500-3,000 rpm. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual (MT) or automatic (AT).

Suspension includes front McPherson struts and coil springs, and rear coupled torsion beam axle. Brakes are a setup of front disc brakes and rear drum brakes drums at the rear. 15″ steel alloys in 185/65 tyres are available in E and EX variants. EX AT variant gets 15″ alloy wheels. SX and SX(O) top ends get 16″ diamond-cut alloy wheels in 195/55 tyres. The tubeless spare wheel available across variants is a 15″ steel alloy in a 185/65 tyre config.
The new design language makes room for a front cascade design chrome grille, projector fog lights with cornering lamps and chrome surrounds, LED tail lamps, projector headlamps with LED DRLs and positioning lamps, sharkfin antenna, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, chrome beltline, garnish on boot lid, and outside door handles, turn indicator on outside mirrors, and electrically folding OVRMs.
Equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in SX and SX(O) variants, and a 5.0-inch unit in EX variant, an Arkamys sound system is in use. The 7.0-inch system connects with Mirror Link, Android Auto and Apply CarPlay and can be operated by voice command or iblue smart phone app.
Auto Link smartphone app lets you monitor vehicle health, driving pattern, manage parking, get roadside assistance, and book a service appointment.
Hyundai Verna SX(O) top end features cruise control, ventilated front seats, sliding front armrest and rear centre armrest, USB chargers, rear curtain, luggage net and hook, electric sunroof and rear ac vents with and eco coating tech and rear adjustable headrests.
New Verna safety features include ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard across variants. SX(O) variant gets 6 airbags (front, side and curtain). Safety features also include impact sensing auto door unlock, speed sending auto door lock, headlamp escort function, front seat belt pretentioners, anti-pinch driver window with one-touch automatic roll down, rear view camera with parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, burglar alarm, immobiliser, and dual horn.
