The new Jeep Compass is set for launch in India in August at prices around INR 20-25 lakhs. 2017 Jeep Compass has entered production at the company plant in Ranjangaon near Pune. It is being produced locally to cater to the demands of buyers in India while it will also be from here that it will make its way to other to right hand drive countries.
Once launched, the new Jeep Compass will be sold in three grades of Sport, Longitude and Limited with the latter in two optional sub-grades. It will be offered in exciting exterior colors of Vocal White, Hydro Blue, Brilliant Blue, Minimal Grey and Exotica Red.
2017 Jeep Compass will be powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged, 4 cylinder petrol engine offering 160 hp power and 250 Nm torque. The engine will be mated to a 6 speed manual or 7 speed DDCT dual clutch automatic transmission. In addition to this, there will also be a 2.0 liter, turbocharged, 4 cylinder diesel engine on offer. This new engine is capable of 172 PS power and 350 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.
Features on board 2017 Jeep Compass will vary according to trim levels. Jeep Sports trim, which sits on 16” wheels, receives features such as halogen lamps, electrically adjustable and folding mirrors and all black interiors. It will receive safety features such as ABS, EBD, ESC, front airbags and four disc brakes.
The Longitude variant on 17” steel wheels gets black and beige colored interiors. Fog lamps, keyless entry, push button start and rear parking sensors are among its features while interiors will be seen with a 7” Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system sporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and dual zone climate system.
The top of the line Limited variant gets added passenger comforts with leather seats and steering wheel, rear view camera and a host of optional safety features among which are Jeep Active drive system, Select Terrain Traction Management System and front, side and curtain airbags.
Jeep Compass will join Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the product line up and will compete against Hyundai Tucson and VW Tiguan in India.
