New Jeep Wrangler lands in India – Launch expected later this year

2018 Jeep Wrangler, claimed by the company as the most capable SUV ever, has landed in India. Making its global debut in November last year, both 3 door and 5 door variants of the Wrangler have now arrived in India, which were spotted by Mr Rathod at the Mumbai Airport’s cargo terminal.

2018 Jeep Wrangler is completely redesigned. It is built on a new platform that is lighter and which offers better off-road capabilities than its earlier counterpart. The exterior design includes a 7 slat front grille with full LED headlight setup and halo LED daytime running lights.

Flared fenders, vented bonnet, raked windscreen and 17” or 18” wheels are the highlights of the new Jeep Wrangler exterior design. The Jeep Wrangler commands industry leading ground clearance and departure angles allowing for upto 30” of water fording. Offered in two hard tops and premium soft top versions, the 4×4 SUV gets Sky One Touch power top and a range of different door, top and windshield combinations.

Interiors exude elegance with mechanically adjustable seats, quality material and options of cloth or leather upholstery. The Wrangler gets a completely redesigned dashboard design which can be hand in leather or in a silver or red paint. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is packed with 75 advanced safety and security features.

Engine specifications include a new 2.0 liter turbocharged, inline, four cylinder engine offering eTorque technology. It also gets its power from a 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6 engine with Engine Start-Stop facility and a 3.0 liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine which will be introduced later. All these engines are mated to 8 speed automatic or 6 speed manual.

The Jeep Wrangler 3 door will be presented in Sport, Sport S and Rubicon configuration while the 5 door variants will be available in Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon. Jeep Wrangler entered production at the company plant in Toledo, Ohio. It is from here that the car is exported in markets over the world. India too will be getting CBUs of new Wrangler once launched officially later this year.
