Kia India has strengthened the Carens Clavis (ICE) range with the introduction of a new HTE (EX) trim, aimed at offering more comfort and convenience features while keeping prices competitive. The new variant is available across all internal combustion powertrains and is offered exclusively in a 7-seater configuration.

A key highlight of the update is the first-time introduction of a sunroof with the G1.5 petrol powertrain on Carens Clavis (ICE). Until now, buyers opting for the naturally aspirated petrol had to forego this increasingly popular feature. With this move, Kia is addressing a long-standing customer demand, especially among family buyers who value cabin openness and a premium feel.

Pricing and powertrain options

The newly introduced HTE (EX) trim is positioned above the existing HTE (O) variant and is offered across three ICE powertrains:

– G1.5 petrol (7-seater) – Rs 12,54,900
– G1.5 turbo-petrol (7-seater) – Rs 13,41,900
– D1.5 diesel (7-seater) – Rs 14,52,900

(All prices ex-showroom)

By making the trim available across petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel options, Kia is ensuring broader accessibility for customers with different performance and efficiency preferences.

New comfort and convenience features

Along with the sunroof, the HTE (EX) trim adds several features that significantly enhance everyday usability and cabin experience. These include Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) for improved climate comfort, LED DRLs and LED position lamps for a more modern front-end appearance, and LED cabin lamps that improve interior illumination.

An auto up/down driver-side power window has also been added for extra convenience and safety. These upgrades bring the HTE (EX) closer to higher trims in terms of feel, while maintaining a relatively accessible price point within the Carens Clavis lineup.

Mr. Atul Sood, Senior Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Kia India, said, “The introduction of the HTE (EX) trim for Carens Clavis (ICE) range is a direct outcome of listening closely to our customers and understanding what they value most. By incorporating comfort and convenience features that they have actively want, including the first-ever skylight sunroof in the G1.5 powertrain of Carens Clavis—and offering them across all powertrains, we are making our Carens Clavis lineup an even more compelling choice for families. This move underlines our strong customer-centric approach and our commitment to strengthening Kia’s presence in the highly competitive Indian automotive market.”

Strengthening the Carens Clavis range

With the introduction of the HTE (EX) trim, Kia continues to fine-tune the Carens Clavis (ICE) portfolio to better suit Indian family buyers. By making premium features like a sunroof, automatic climate control and LED lighting available at lower trim levels and across all powertrains, Kia is reinforcing the Carens Clavis’ position as a practical, feature-rich MPV in a highly competitive segment.
