New Kia Picanto showcased by Kia at their dealer road-show in India
Kia’s smallest car, the Picanto is in its third generation ever since debut in 2004.
Kia Motors is holding private preview of its cars in India. One of the cars that was showcased was the new 2017 Kia Picanto is also on exhibit. This is being done by Kia to meet probable business partners and dealers who will help them establish their brand in the country. Kia is due for launch in India by 2019.
2017 Kia Picanto, launched in South Korea in January sees enormous modifications where its third generation version is concerned. It gets enhanced dimensions, new design elements and sits on a new H Platform. It uses high strength steel throughout its body construction but is still 23 kgs lighter than its earlier counterpart.
A top selling company model worldwide, the new Picanto is noted with projector headlamps with DRLs, new fog lamps and electrically folding ORVMs. It sits on 16” alloy wheels and gets a power sun roof. Interiors are noted with leather seating, automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and a 7” touchscreen infotainment system sporting navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless smartphone charger.
2017 Kia Picanto stands 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width and 1,485 mm in length. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,400 mm and commands ground clearance of 141 mm. Boot space is at 255 liters. It is powered by Kappa 1.0 MPI and Kappa 1.2 MPI petrol engines offering 67 PS and 96.11 Nm and 84 PS and 121.60 Nm power and torque respectively. The 1.0 liter T-GDI engine delivers 100 PS power and 172 Nm torque with all engine mated to 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission options.
2017 Kia Picanto at the road show program was showcased along with Kia Sportage, Kia Sorento, Kia Niro, Kia Rio, Kia Cerato and Kia Optima. It is a part of the company plan to gauge customer’s response while Kia also plans on taking 2017 Kia Picanto to the 2018 Auto Expo early next year.
