The new Kia Sorento, now in its third generation, has been spied in India. Based on the same platform as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Sorento you seen in the images is the GT Line variant which is the top of the line variant of the Sorento.
One of the safest SUVs out there today, Kia Sorento comes with a 5 star safety rating. This seven seater SUV not only shares platform, but also shares engine and parts with Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai Santa Fe is no longer on sale in India. Considering that Kia would like to establish itself as a more premium brand than Hyundai, launching Sorento would help.
It is 4780 mm long, 1890 mm wide, 1685 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2780 mm. The Kia Sorento which has been spied, wears the number AP02BP2454. When the number is checked in the national registry, it returns this – “Vehicle Details Not Found. Verify the Vehicle No or Contact Registering Authority for digitization the details.”
Internationally, the Sorento is offered with 148 hp 2.0 liter diesel, a 2.2 liter turbodiesel R unit producing 195 hp and emitting 153 g/km of CO2 while the third option will be a 2.4 liter GDI petrol engine with direct injection offering 194 hp. Sorento in some international markets also get 172 hp 2.4 MPI or 276 hp 3.5 liter V6 gasoline engine. It comes with MT as well as AT. AWD is also on offer.
