Maruti Suzuki India has launched the new Alto facelift in India. It is based on the same platform as current Alto 800, but comes with revised styling and updated BS6 compliant petrol engine. Maruti Alto becomes the second car to be BS6 compliant from Maruti Suzuki, first being Baleno, which was launched yesterday.
It is to be noted here that the car launched today is not the new gen Alto, which is currently on test. New gen Alto is set for launch in October this year. It will be based on Heartect platform, just like new WagonR.
For starters, the 2019 Maruti Alto 800 facelift gets updated exteriors. It is seen with a new grille which is larger and stretches between two headlamps. It also gets an Alto badge and drops the 800 moniker and sits on 12” steel wheels painted silver or black.
Mr. R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we are committed to bring innovations in India’s best-selling car brand Alto, which now has a stylish makeover with additional safety features. With cumulative sales of over 3.7 million since launch in 2000, Alto has been a symbol of pride for Indian car users. Nearly 58% of Alto customers have chosen it as their first car purchase. The New Alto is India’s first BSVI compliant entry segment car with a powerful engine and high fuel efficiency of 22.05 km/l. We are confident that the New Alto will be a car that young Indians will be proud to own.”
