New Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift will only get petrol engine – No diesel at launch

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be officially launched in India on 6th August. India is the first country where the new Maruti Ciaz will be making debut, thanks to the popularity of the luxury family sedan here. Ahead of the launch, interesting details has been reported by Money Control.

As per the report, Maruti Suzuki India will not launch a diesel engine variant of Ciaz facelift. Yes. Only a petrol engine will be offered at launch. The company has already started production of the car at their plant. Dealers will start getting the new Ciaz in the coming days. Some dealers have already started accepting bookings.

The decision for not offering diesel could be because of two reasons. One – to draw full focus on their newly engineered and developed 1.5 liter petrol engine. This is the first time this particular petrol engine is being launched. Second – demand for diesel cars engines in cars is on a decline.

Speaking about the design, 2018 Maruti Ciaz will receive new exterior features and interior updates. Expect pricing to be increased marginally. The updated Ciaz will be seen with a new front grille, revised bumper and headlamp design. Fog lamps also get redesigned along with lower lip while there seems to be no change in tail lamp design.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will sit on 15” alloy wheels. Interiors will also see fresh changes with a lighter shade of faux wood inserts, a new instrument cluster, cruise control and a sunroof. Features such as 7” touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and leather upholstery, as seen on its current counterpart will be making its way into the updated model as well.

While the earlier Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was powered by a 1.4 liter K14B petrol engine, it will be a new 1.5 liter K15B petrol engine that will be seen powering the 2018 model. This engine offers 104 PS power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission. The engine also receives mild hybrid technology. Maruti Suzuki is also planning to introduce a 1.5 liter diesel engine but not until next year.
