New Maruti Ertiga Cross will get SUVish stance – Launch 6 months after 2018 Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the all new generation of Ertiga in India before Diwali 2018. About 6 months after the launch of new 2018 Ertiga, Maruti will launch yet another variant of the Ertiga, which will most likely be questioned Ertiga Cross.

Expected to be launched by May 2019, Maruti Ertiga Cross is based on the all new Ertiga MPV. It is a butched-up variant of the MPV, made to look more like an SUV, rather than an MPV. This is not the first time Maruti will be giving the cross treatment to one of their popular cars. We already have Celerio and Celerio X variant on sale in India.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross will receive aggressive styling. It will be positioned on the Suzuki new HEARTECT platform and borrow features from the new Swift and Dzire. It gets new front grille, swept back headlamps and a prominent front bumper. It also gets bumper inserts and side cladding along with added ground clearance.

Interiors of the Ertiga Cross will be seen in an all black color scheme with contrasting seats. It will get features such as SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also sport a multifunction steering wheel and safety features such as dual front airbags and ABS and EBD. Also on offer are automatic climate control and auto power windows on driver side.

New Maruti Ertiga for India. Launch by Diwali 2018.

Sporting the same engine specifications as the regular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Ertiga Cross will be powered by a 1.5 liter K-Series petrol engine offering 104 bhp power and 138 Nm torque and a 1.3 liter turbo diesel engine capable of 89 bhp power and 200 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.

Though no direct rival in India, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross could compete with the likes of Honda BRV in the same price bracket at Rs 8-10 lakhs. More details will be revealed once the car is launched.
