Maruti Ertiga, a popular MPV on sale in India, clocks sales to the extent of 4,500 unit per month. The 6 year old Ertiga is now set to receive a generation upgrade; with the new model to be launched on November 21, 2018.
This second generation, 7 seater Ertiga went on display at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show where it was noted on a new platform making it bigger and better than its earlier counterpart. Not only it is bigger in size, it also gets a larger and more powerful engine.
Production of the new Maruti Ertiga has commenced and 100 units are manufactured each day. Bookings will open in the coming days. The 2018 Ertiga boasts of a new design language. Its exteriors are noted with a large grille with chrome accents, projector headlamps, 15” alloy wheels, chrome outlining on license plate and new fog lamps in a C shaped design.
The bonnet too gets redesigned while at the rear new tail lamps and distinctive spoiler are a part of the updates. Overall length of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has also increased. It is now 99mm longer while width is increased by 40mm and height by 5mm. The bonnet is also sculpted so as to give the Ertiga a more aggressive stance.
Maruti Ertiga gets a beige colored cabin which is more spacious and better equipped than its earlier model. It gets a 6.8” touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Interior space in the second and third row is increased, boot space has been reduced. In terms of safety, the Ertiga gets dual airbags, ABS, EBD and reverse parking sensors as standard.
Engine specifications on the Ertiga includes a 1.5 liter petrol engine offering 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic gearbox with SHVS mild hybrid technology. The 1.3 liter diesel engine offers 88 bhp power and 200 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Once officially launched, Maruti Ertiga will rival the likes of Mahindra Marazzo, Honda BRV and Renault Lodgy.
