New Maruti Swift bookings cross 60,000 in 15 days of launch – Waiting period touches 6 month

New Maruti Swift was officially launched at the 2018 Auto Expo on 8th Feb 2018. Available in both petrol and diesel engine options, the new generation Petrol Swift is priced from Rs 4.99 lakh, while diesel Swift is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The car maker has now revealed that total bookings have crossed 60,000 units.

Powering the new Swift in India will be the same set of engines which power the current Swift. These are 1.2 liter petrol (84hp/115Nm) and 1.3 liter diesel (75hp/190Nm). Transmission options on offer are 5 speed MT and AMT. Fuel efficiency is best in class. Colour options on offer are Prime Lucent Orange, Prime Midnight Blue, SLD Fire Red, PRL Arctic White, Met Silky Silver, and Met Magma Grey.

Regular Maruti dealerships are being re-branded as Maruti Suzuki Arena. These will be a bit more premium than the existing Maruti dealerships, but not as premium as the Nexa. As of today, 80 dealerships have finished the transformation from regular Maruti dealership to Maruti Suzuki Arena. In a few months, all Maruti dealerships will be re-branded as Maruti Suzuki Arena.

Considering that the new Swift is 40 mm wider and 20 mm longer than before, it has not compromised on performance. Thanks to a lighter weight (lighter by 40 kgs), the new Swift is 10% faster and is also more fuel efficient. Its structure consists of 40% high tensile steel, making it the lightest and the strongest Swift till date. Variants on offer will be LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+. All will get 5 MT, but only VXi/VDi and ZXi/ZDi trims will get AMT.

On the inside, the 2018 Maruti Swift will not only be more spacious, it will also offer you more technology features than ever before. You will now have Maruti’s SmartPlay Infotainment system with a touchscreen along with navigation, rear parking assist, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth compatibility, 12 V charger, USB port, etc.

Steering wheel is a sporty one with flat bottom. Interiors are all black, giving it a sporty feel. Not only legroom and headroom has increased, boot space has also increased to 265 liters, which is 58 liters more than before. Dual airbags and ABS is standard on all variants. LED DRL’s only offered on top variants.

Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Brand Swift has featured among the top 5 best-selling cars in India for more than a decade. I thank our customers for their strong support. I am confident that with the all-new Swift, we will be successful to capture the imagination of our customers and offer the car which meets their demands.”
