New Maruti WagonR 5 seater spied with badging – Launch by Diwali 2018

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is all set to give its WagonR a makeover. The new generation WagonR has been spied on test near the company plant in Haryana. This time, wearing the badge of WagonR. To be launched with a host of new changes, 2018 WagonR will be offered in 5 seater and 7 seater versions. The new WagonR 7 seater is based on the Suzuki Solio currently on sale in Japan.

The 3rd generation WagonR is built of lightweight, high tensile steel. While the 5 seater model will measure 3,599mm in overall length, the 7 seater will be longer so as to accommodate 3 rows of seating.

7 str WagonR will be seen with a roof mounted spoiler and a shark fin antenna. Doors will be sliding to offer easier entry and exit while interiors will be seen in a 5+2 seater arrangement. 5 seater variant will be similar to the one which is on sale in Japan.

On board features will include a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic air conditioning and comfortable seating with a refreshed color scheme. It will receive safety features among which will be ABS offered as standard, seat belt warning light, reverse parking sensors and twin airbags.

New WagonR 7 seater will be heavily based on Suzuki Solio MPV.

The 7 seater Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be powered by the same engine as seen on the Swift. This 1.2 liter petrol engine offers 90bhp and 118Nm of torque. The new WagonR could also receive CNG and LPG fuel options. The smaller variant will continue with the 1.0 liter petrol mill, which powers the current WagonR.

It will be positioned below the Ertiga and will compete against the Datsun Go+ and soon to be launched Renault MPV. Official launch in the country is set for September 2018, just ahead of the festive season while prices could range between Rs 3.5 lakhs for the 5 seater variant and Rs 4.5 lakh for the 7 seater variant.
