New Maruti WagonR bookings are underway for a booking amount of 11k. Launch is scheduled for January 23, 2019. MSIL dealers have started receiving the first lot of WagonR, which will be delivered to customers from 23rd Jan.
In its new avatar, WagonR will be available in three variants – L, V and Z, and six colour options – blue, brown, grey, orange, silver and white. The base and mid variant will be devoid of touchscreen infotainment system. Instead, it will get a 2 DIN audio system, which has now been spotted.
New Maruti Suzuki WagonR shares its platform with Ignis and Swift. 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR dimensions stand as follows – 3,655mm in length, 1,620mm in width and 1,675mm in height, and wheelbase of 2,435mm. Ground clearance is noted at 170mm. Thanks to Heartect platform, weight has reduced by 65 kgs.
Changes to the exterior include changes to the front fascia, bumper design, chrome grille, redesigned fog lamps, floating roofline, vertically stacked tail lamps and rear windscreen. WagonR safety systems include driver airbag, ABS and EBD, seat belt reminder, speed alert system, and rear parking sensors. Interiors of top variant are spruced with tech and comfort features that range from steering mounted controls, SmartPlay 7.0” touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and power windows.
Powering the new WagonR are two engine options, both of which are either offered with 5 speed MT or 5 speed AMT. The base LXi and mid VXi are offered with 1.0 liter engine, while the mid VXi and top ZXi are offered with 1.2 liter engine.
The 1.0 liter engine is same as before, while the 1.2 liter engine is borrowed from Swift. The former delivers 67 hp and 90 Nm, while the latter delivers 89 hp and 113 Nm. This makes WagonR 1.2 liter the most powerful WagonR ever to be launched. It will take on the likes of Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro. Expected price range is Rs 4.5 lakhs to Rs 6 lakhs, ex-sh.
