New Maruti YBA rendering features tailgate mounted spare wheel unlike spy shots
Maruti YBA (codename) is expected to be the company’s 10th launch from now, in first quarter of 2016. The country’s largest carmaker has lined up 3 all-new models and 6 facelift launches for this year.
Maruti announced its plans to foray into compact crossover segment via unveil of XA-Alpha concept at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. But the spied and rendered YBA SUV looks less like XA-Alpha and more like Suzuki iv-4 concept showcased at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The iv-4 ended up being the inspiration for new Vitara crossover, set for sales debut in European markets shortly.
None of the aforementioned concepts and models have had tailgate mounted spare wheel. Given, it is refreshing to see Maruti YBA with a hump on its back, adding to intended rugged SUV appeal. While the upcoming Ford EcoSport facelift is said to shed its spare wheel off its back, will Maruti Suzuki consider fixing one on YBA’s hind? It will anyway remain a sub-4 metre car since just bumper-to-bumper measurement is considered.
