New Mercedes C Class 1.5 liter petrol engine India launch price Rs 43.5 L

Mercedes Benz India has launched updated C Class with a new 1.5 liter petrol engine. This engine was first launched only in Europe. It has now arrived in India, replacing the older 2.0 liter engine. As per Zigwheels, the new 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine is only offer with the Prestige variant, which costs Rs 43.5 lakhs, ex-showroom.

The 1.5 liter turbo engine delivers 184 PS and 280 Nm torque via automatic transmission. This engine allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 239 kmph. It is also more fuel efficient than older petrol engine. It claims to deliver mileage of 16.3 kmpl and 140 gms of CO2 per km.

Speaking about the new Mercedes C Class facelift; exterior changes include stylish bumpers, redesigned alloys, all-LED headlights, and attractive taillights featuring a unique LED pattern. Interiors feature a redesigned steering wheel, a suave digital instrument console and a 10.25″ touchscreen infotainment system.

Like the petrol unit, diesel engine also gets a new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that will be BS-VI compliant and available in two different power configurations. The C 220d delivers 194hp power and 400Nm torque whereas the C 300d will deliver around 245hp. All variants of Mercedes-Benz C-Class Facelift will have a new 9-speed, 9G-Tronic auto ‘box’ that replaces the existing 7G-Tronic unit.

Mercedes C Class is a rival to the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and the Jaguar XE. It is available in 3 diesel engine options and 1 petrol engine option. Diesel engine base variant C 220d Prime is priced at Rs 40 lakhs, mid variant C 220d Progressive is priced at Rs 44.25 lakhs while top C 300d AMG Line is priced at Rs 48.25 lakhs. All are powered by the same engine.

With the updated C Class, Mercedes also offers a new diesel engine, which is a 1.6 liter unit. This C180d delivers 120 hp and 300 Nm. It is not clear if this will be launched in India or not. With the 1.5 liter petrol engine arriving in India, there could be a possibility for the 1.6 diesel to be launched in India.
