New Skoda Karoq SUV unveiled – Replaces Yeti from line-up

The all-new Skoda Karoq SUV has made its global debut. Europe will be the first to receive this new SUV once production starts next month. Post that, the car will be made available globally, including in India. New Skoda Karoq replaces the Yeti SUV.

Featuring a sporty and impressive design on the outside, the new Karoq also gets augmented interior space and a bevy of on-board technology. Full LED head lights will be offered as optional while LED tail lamps are standard while other exterior features would include a more dynamic design, larger dimensions and added boot space.

Skoda Karoq will get a new radiator grille with chrome finish and vertical double slats. Headlamps are inspired by Bohemian glass art with crystalline cut full LED lamps and 8 light strips creating a unique design. The center of the bonnet proudly sports a large Skoda logo while the rear section receives LED rear lamps in a typical Skoda “C” shape, brake lights and fog lamps.

Skoda Karoq stand at 4,382 mm in length, 1,841 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height. It sits on a long wheelbase measuring 2,638 mm. Boot space is at 521 liters with rear seats in place which can be increased to 1,630 liters when seats are folded down. When fitted with optional VarioFlex rear seats, this boot space becomes variable to extend from 479 liters to 581 liters. The seats consists of three separate rear seats which can be adjusted or even removed individually so as to use the SUV as a van with greater loading capacity.

Interiors can be noted with a new dashboard design and a host of decorative elements on the passenger section. It gets an infotainment system from Skoda’s Modular Infotainment Matrix offering new functions, interfaces and capacitive touch displays. LED ambient lighting can be set to 10 different colors with control over brightness of illumination.

Speaking about engine options – Skoda Karoq will get 2 petrol and 3 diesel engine options with a new 1.5 liter TSI petrol and 2 liter TDI diesel with all engines mated to a 7 speed DSG transmission. Below is the range of powertrains on offer

1.0L TSI 115 PS and 175 Nm
1.5L TSI 150 PS and 250 Nm
1.6L TDI 115 PS and 250 Nm
2.0L TDI 150 PS and 340 Nm
