New Skoda Rapid Lapiz Blue colour arrives at dealer – Rivals 2018 Maruti Ciaz

Skoda has launched the new Rapid Onyx in India just ahead of the festive season. It will challenge the likes of Maruti Ciaz and Honda City in the C-segment sedan space.

Offered in petrol and diesel engine options and priced from Rs 9.75 lakhs, the new Onyx Edition is based on the Style trim. Diesel variant is priced from Rs 11.58 lakhs. It sports some visual updates and enhanced features that set it apart from existing variants.

Skoda Rapid Onyx is available in two color options of Lapiz Blue and Candy White. It boasts gloss black ORVMs, black side moulding and trunk lip garnish. It sits on 16” black alloy wheels and gloss black finished B-pillars.

Interior of the Rapid Onyx sees not real design changes, but is offered in a dual tone ebony sand color scheme. Seats are finished in beige with wood design leatherette while the leather wrapped steering wheel gets black stitching. Textile mats also receive black stitching accents while extensive use of chrome around the interiors adds to its premium appeal.

In terms of equipment, the Skoda Rapid Onyx gets a 6.5” touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink allowing selection of apps such as navigation via smartphone besides supporting SUB, AUX and Bluetooth. The system is also compatible with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Automatic climate controls, 12V power socket at the front and rear and rear windscreen blinds are also among its interior features. ABS, EBD, hill hold control and twin airbags are among its safety features.

Skoda Rapid Onyx is powered by a 1.6 liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine offering 105 PS power and 153 Nm torque and a 1.5 liter TDI turbocharged diesel engine capable of 105 PS power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox or 6 speed automatic. Fuel efficiency rating is between 14.84 kmpl for the petrol automatic going up to 21.72 kmpl for the diesel automatic.
