This new compact crossover from the Japanese automaker is expected to be based on Nissan Kicks concept, unveiled at 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show in October. The model was the second ever Brazilian design study, following Nissan Extrem concept premiered at the same show in 2012.
Now, it is believed Nissan is readying a road ready version of Kicks concept to fight against popular and upcoming crossovers in Ford EcoSport segment in India.
The urban SUV would be powered by the go-to diesel engine of Renault-Nissan Alliance, the 1.5 litre dCi K9K motor. But the state of tune in upcoming smaller-than-Terrano crossover is to early to be speculated. A new version of this engine, other than 85 PS and 110 PS, is not expected.
It is also unclear if this new Nissan crossover will be cut short to be eligible for sub-4 metre benefits in India, as the concept form measured 4.3 metres in length.
If the plan cooks well, the Kicks-based SUV would debut at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo before its launch a few months later.
