New Suzuki Gixxer 300 debuts – May launch in India to take on BMW G310R

The Haojue DR300, a 300cc naked streetbike was recently unveiled at Chongqing Mobo Fair 2018 in China by Haojue Motorcycles, Suzuki’s Chinese partners and manufacturers of small displacement bikes. Launched in China, the Haojue DR300 could also be making its way to other markets across the globe as the Suzuki GSX-S300 or the Gixxer 300.

Haojue DR300 follows a similar design that is seen on the Suzuki GSX-S1000. It sports LED headlamp with LED DRLs, a fully digital instrument cluster, split seats, raised tail section and LED tail lamps. It also gets a sculpted fuel tank with extended tank shrouds and a swept back exhaust canister.

The Gixxer 300 gets 10 spoke, 17” alloy wheels fitted with 110/70 section front and 140/60 section rear Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tubeless tyres and suspension is via USD forks in the front and adjustable monoshocks at the rear.

Braking power is via 298mm petal disc in the front and a small rotor at the rear while dual channel ABS will be offered as standard. In terms of dimensions, Haojue DR300 measures 2,055mm in length, 720mm in width and 1,050 mm in height. It has a 1,420mm long wheelbase and weighs a total of 177 kgs.

Engine specifications on the new Haojue DR300, will include a 298cc, parallel twin cylinder, 4 valve, liquid cooled engine which has been developed exclusively by Haojue. No power or torque figures have been announced as on date but the engine gets mated to a 6 speed transmission.

While Haojue produces bikes exclusively for the Chinese markets, the DR300 will not be launched in India. However, Suzuki could introduce the GSX-S300 in the country taking into account the high demand for 300cc bikes in India. Once launched in India, the Suzuki GSX-S300 will compete against the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G310R and Dominar 400.
