New Suzuki Jimny SUVs spied inside company plant undisguised

As a host of examples have been recently spotted inside factory premises in Japan signaling commencement of production, the next generation Suzuki Jimny will be making its global debut in September. This is the fourth generation model and it gets a complete makeover with retro styling.

2019 Suzuki Jimny will be positioned on a ladder chassis platform. It will get All Grip Pro all wheel drive system and will also be seen with advanced limited slip differential. Exteriors borrow some design from its earlier generation models with boxy styling, rounded headlamps and a steep windshield. It also receives square shaped window and trapezoidal wheel arches along with a flat roof.

Interiors also get a complete makeover with twin pod instrument cluster, a flat bottom steering wheel, round climate control knobs and rectangular central air vents. A new 7” touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery and cockpit inspired lower central console switch gear are also evident while in terms of safety, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny gets ABS, airbags and an all wheel drive system.

In Europe, 2019 Suzuki Jimny will be powered by a 1.2 liter Dualjet engine and a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder BoosterJet motor. The 1.2 liter Dualjet will command peak power of 92 bhp while the 1.0 liter Boosterjet will offer 112 bhp power mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.

With demand for SUVs rising exponentially in India, it is possible for the new generation Jimny to be launched in India. Here it will sit above the Vitara Brezza as a premium SUV offering from the NEXA.

Expected to make its way to India sometime later in 2019, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny could be powered by a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet engine with prices slated between INR 7-11 lakhs.
