Tata Motors had initially unveiled the H5X concept at 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year. The car is now on a road test across India. Recently, Rushlane readers, Nikhil Khadse and Aman Siriah managed to spot the car on test, whose camouflage sticker had been slightly revealed. What this did was it revealed that the production spec Tata Harrier H5X will be available in red colour.
Tata Harrier is poised for launch later this year or in early 2019, when it will be positioned above the Hexa in the company lineup. It is a five seater SUV, which will also become the flagship SUV of Tata Motors.
The 5 seater Tata Harrier SUV is likely to be priced in the range of INR 12-18 lakhs. It will be based on Tata Motor’s new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture with the company’s latest Impact 2.0 design philosophy.
Sharing its D8 platform with the Range Rover Evoque, the new Tata Harrier will be seen as a capable off-roader with premium features and will command best in class features, power, performance. The production spec model will boast of a muscular design with flared wheel arches and rising shoulder line.
Interiors will get all class leading features with quality material and a host of driver and passenger comforts. It will be seen with a floating touchscreen infotainment display, automatic climate control and electric operated ORVMs.
Engine specifications could include a Fiat sourced 2.0 liter diesel engine, which also powers the Jeep Compass, which, on the Harrier, could offer upto 140 PS peak power. The engine will get mated to manual and automatic transmissions and will be offered in both 2WD and 4WD systems.
Tata Harrier is expected to take on the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass in terms of competition in India. Expect price to start from Rs 12-13 lakhs. It will also be exported to other markets across the globe from India.
