Tata Nano modified to look like helicopter for Rs 7 lakhs – Video

This is quite literally a case of if you can’t fly a helicopter, then get your hands on something that looks like one. In his mid 20s, Mithilesh Prasad lives in Simri village of Baniapur block at Chhapra, Bihar.

Both, he and his brother are employed as pipe-fitters. And together they worked on a Nano, to create something of a replica helicopter that moves along the road. There’s no scope or tech that can make it fly, but fabrication and fittings have made the car much bigger than its original form.

Though devoid of tech enhancements, the Nano to heli look has given locals a talking point. Having had great interest in in all things helicopter when young, Mithilesh did nurture the desire of flying one or preparing one. Since that never came about, his car-heli mod is the outcome of an unfulfilled wish. Watch the Tata Nano helicopter in action in the video below, by RUPTLY.

Having completed his XIIth grade, he moved to Gujarat to work as a pipe fitter with his brothers. Upon returning home, he began ideating, and working on the mod. It’s inability to fly hasn’t dampened people’s perception of it. And the creative work that’s gone into the project is oft discussed. In fact, the Nano convert has such road presence that wherever it passes through, folks gather to laud it.

The pet project has cost about Rs 7 lakhs. This includes the price of buying a used Tata Nano, materials required for mods, and fitting charges. Building materials were purchased to create a rotor blade, a rotor mast, a tail, and a tail boom. All of this was then attached onto the car body.

Born into a farming family, the lad was unable to pursue his interest for helicopters. However, the Nano mod helps nurture his passion for creating one. And while the Nano convert heli can’t get on main roads and highways owing to its compromised safety and moving rotor blades, it does get its fair share of road time in the village roads.

This Nano’s front face too has been fabricated to give it a narrow bird’s beak front. The light bezels are larger than life, and there’s generous use of LED strips upfront, under the car body and on side panels. For a added effect, even the rotor blades are decked in LED strips.
