New Tata Nexon modified as a Police car – Render video

New Tata Nexon has been launched in India with BS6 diesel and petrol engine options. Price start from 6.95 lakhs.

The Mahindra Scorpio is currently the favourite weapon of choice for the Indian law enforcement but with more and more crossovers from homegrown brands flooding the market, one day we may seem than donning the Police livery and related paraphernalia. Here is a fine looking example of the Tata Nexon facelift envisioned as a Police Interceptor by Youtube channel Moto Show.

The black and white livery is inspired by the US Police department but we are certain that the stylish crossover would look equally mean as an Indian law enforcement vehicle with predominantly white livery. In short, the facelifted Nexon adopts accessories well.

It has to be said that the Tata Nexon looks good in all-black although the automaker doesn’t officially offer this option. The new silver scuff plate and bumper detailing complements the police car’s appearance. The bull-bar with tri-coloured LEDs and LED roof-mounted lights and ORVM-mounted spotlight makes for a menacing lighting signature which also includes the stock car’s fog-lights and LED DRLs.

A set of reasonably powerful and efficient engines, spacious cabin and sizeable boot makes it a practical vehicle for law enforcement applications. If at all there is a fleet modernisation drive by the Indian police departments across the country anytime soon, the Tata Nexon would emerge as a viable option. However, as of now, the Tata Nexon police car remains as our wishful thinking.

To recap, the Tata Nexon BS6 facelift which was launched in January 2020 features a completely redesigned front fascia and BS6 compliant engines. The 1.2-liter turbo-charged petrol motor produces 120 hp and 170 Nm of torque while the 1.5-liter diesel motor is good for 110 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Both motors are available with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and a 6-speed AMT as option.

The Tata Nexon crossover is now also available with a pure electric powertrain. Supported by a 30.2 kWh battery pack, the electric vehicle has 129 hp and 245 Nm of torque on tap. The Tata Nexon BS6 (IC engined variants) is priced between INR 6.95 lakh to 12.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV is priced between INR 13.99 lakh and 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is currently available in 22 cities across 60 dealerships.
