Tata Safari Storme customers have until now had to make do with 16 inch alloy wheels. While the size remains unchanged for LX and EX variants, VX variant has now been made available with 17” alloy wheels (R17). VX top trim is available in both 2WD and 4WD configuration.
Apart from new R17 wheels, Tata Safari Storme VX features remain unchanged. The top variant is available with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors for safety.
Other features include projector headlamps, height adjustable driver seat, roof mounted AC vents for rear passengers, electrically opertaed ORVMs with turn indicators.
The Harman CONNECTNEXT audio system is supported by steering mounted controls. Tata Safari Storme gets power from a 2.2-litre diesel engine. LX and EX variant returns 150PS power and 320Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed MT. VX variant returns 156PS power and 400Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed MT. Safari Storme is listed in a price range of Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and takes on Mahindra Scorpio in its segment.
Above the Tata Safari, there will soon be a new SUV from Tata. This will be in the form of Harrier. Showcased at the Auto Expo as Harrier, this new SUV will be powered by a new 2.0 liter diesel engine. It is the same engine which is seen on the Jeep Compass, but tuned to deliver lesser power of 140 PS and 300 Nm.
It will come as a five seater, featuring best in class space. It will be loaded with technology, some of them which will be seen for the first time in the segment. Once launched, the Harrier will sit above the Safari Storme. It will rival the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta.
