New Toyota Fortuner rendering shows near-production design

Next generation Toyota Fortuner is the talk of the day after a teaser slipped out through one of the Thai forums. Based on which, an Indonesian media quickly created a graphic rendering incorporating the highlight in the teaser into side profile of current Fortuner model.

These next-gen Toyota Fortuner renderings were inspired specifically by camouflaged test mules of the same and Hilux’s, caught while plying on the roads of Brazil. Spy shots are attached in the gallery below.

Now we have stumbled upon a front and rear three quarters rendering of 2016 Toyota Fortuner, posted a few days earlier. These were based on spy shots of Fortuner and its pick up brother Hilux, before the teaser was released, yet they caught the teased shoulder line and third window spot on.

Apparently, 2016 Fortuner is designed to be more of a sophisticated machine than an intimidating one, giving the Japanese manufacturer reason to position the SUV as a more premium offering than the outgoing model. Probably as an attempt to persuade Audi Q3 buyers to settle with this instead.

Story of upcoming 2016 Toyota Innova is the same. The next-gen model uses same platform as Fortuner / Hilux, augmenting its overall appeal and characteristics. While the current Innova is highly likely to be retained for taxi / commercial market, distinguishing the new model as a more premium & personal choice, same cannot be said for Fortuner nameplate.
