The MPV is likely to offer standard dual airbags and ABS.

Autocar India reports that the new Toyota Innova is set to make its Indian debut at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2016 on February 3. The vastly improved next generation model of the highly successful family MPV is expected to go on sale in India in the later part of the year.

Based on the second gen IMV platform which also underpins the new Fortuner and Hilux pickup, the new Innova adopts a completely revamped design inside out. The 7-seat people carrier sports a trapezoidal grille, peeled back projector headlamps and a larger greenhouse. The profile however looks more or less same as the current version. A sharpened up rear fascia complements the rest of the design.

The new interior design would be the new gen model’s main selling point.

The real high point of the new Innova is its upmarket interiors which features leather and faux wooden appointments. Top end variants also gain a touchscreen multimedia infotainment system, multiple airbags, automatic climate control, and so on. We expect the new gen model to come equipped with standard dual airbags and ABS.

Power comes from a new 2.4-litre GD diesel engine which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, A 6-speed AT could also be on the cards for India. The motor is capable of 147 bhp and 369 Nm of torque.
