2020 Volkswagen Passat is now on display at the 2019 North American International Auto Show, which is being held from 14-27 January 2019. It is seen with revamped exteriors and interiors.
It boasts of advanced on board technologies. 2020 Volkswagen Passat, is in no way an all new vehicle, but instead is a heavily updated version of the current Passat.
The 2020 Passat will enter production at the company’s Chatanooga, Tennessee plant. It will reach dealers in the U.S. this summer. It will be presented in four regular trims along with the Limited model. Updates on the 2020 Passat will include LED head and tail lamps, distinctive ‘Passat’ lettering on trunk lid, new color options and though the 2020 Passat will ride on 17” wheels, buyers can also opt for 18” or 19” wheels for a sportier and more premium appeal.
Interiors also get a new look with cloth seat covers offered from the base variant onwards and Nappa leather seats at an additional cost with a long list of other interior updates. These include front and rear heated seating, dual zone climate control, electrically operated and heated mirrors along with automatic wipers, adaptive headlamps with cornering facility and a power driver seat.
In terms of safety, the Passat gets forward collision warning system, autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian monitoring system and blind spot monitor. It will also receive rear traffic alert from its base variant onwards, while at added costs, buyers can get adaptive cruise control, lane assist and park assist. On board technology sees a new glass covered infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Android Auto.
Engine specifications on the 2020 Volkswagen Passat will see a 2.0 TSI, four cylinder engine offering 174 hp power while the inclusion of a new torque converter and new software has seen torque increase from 250 Nm to 280 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
