New VW Polo TSI Sport and Polo GT TDI Sport launched in India

In an attempt to counteract the newly launched Ford Figo S and Maruti Baleno RS, Volkswagen India has updated its premium hatchback – Polo GT.

Today, Volkswagen India announced the launch of Polo GT TSI and GT TDI with updated features. Called GT TSI Sport and GT TDI Sport, the new Polo GT Sport series gets new features on the outside as well as on the inside.

These new features are glossy black spoiler, glossy black roof foil, 16 inch Portago alloys, GT Sport side foil, GT Sport embossed seat covers. Price of the new Polo GT Sport variants are about INR 20,000 more than the respective GT variants. This means that the Polo GT TSI Sport is priced at INR 9.81 lakh while the Polo GT TDI Sport is priced at INR 9.71 lakh, ex-showroom.

VW Polo GT features list (top-end variant) continues to be offered with the Sport variants. Highlights include electrically foldable wing mirrors, cruise control and cooled glove compartment.

Mechanically, the GT Sport variants will continue to be powered by the same engine options which are also on offer with regular GT versions. These are – 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that pushes out an impressive 105 PS and 175 Nm of torque when mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 1.5-litre diesel motor generating 110 PS/250 Nm via a 5-speed manual unit.
