New Yamaha R3 unveiled officially – Borrows styling from MotoGP sportsbike

Japanese two wheeler maker Yamaha is readying the 2019 R3 for launch. Ahead of that, they have released the bike’s first official images. What is a notable feature of the new Yamaha R3 is that it ditches its conservative looks and borrows styling from MotoGP YZR-M1 which is sure to attract racing aficionados.

Yamaha R3 will be offered in colors of Classy Blue and Black, or Menacing Black and White. To be launched in India in 2019, its features will include a diamond frame with new inverted fork enhancing rigidity. It will get swing arm at the rear while braking will be via hydraulic single disc brake at the front and rear.

The new YZF-R3 will get kerb weight of 167 kgs, overall height of 1,140 mm and seat height of 780mm while tank capacity will be of 14 liters. It will sit on front and rear tubeless tyres measuring 110/70-17 in the front and 140/70-17 at the rear.

On board features also get enhanced with a large central air scoop, slanting LED headlamps, new windscreen design, new fuel tank and LCD display. The fuel tank also sports a new design, inspired by the R1, offering better positioning of rider’s knees for enhanced riding comfort. Alloy wheel design and exhaust muffler are carried over from the current model.

The new 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 will get powered by a 321 cc, liquid cooled, twin cylinder engine offering 41 bhp power and 29.6 Nm torque. The engine will be Euro V (BSVI) compliant so as to cater to new emission laws coming into effect in April 2020.

2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 will begin global sales from next year. It will be produced from the Yamaha Jakarta facility in Indonesia acting as a global manufacturing hub. Launch in India is planned for 2019 with pricing increased from the price tag of Rs 3.49 lakhs seen on its current counterpart.
