New Yamaha R6 showcased at 2018 Auto Expo – Launch soon
New Yamaha R6 has made its India debut at the ongoing Auto Expo. Launched in Europe and the US, where price starts from $12,199, the bike will soon be launched in India.
The new Yamaha YZF-R6 was showcased today at the 2018 Auto Expo. In its new avatar, R6 styling resembles the new R1. Aerodynamic efficiency stands improved by 8 percent. This according to Yamaha is the company’s most aerodynamic production motorcycle.
The engine remains the same with tweaks. There’s now a six-level-adjustable (plus off) traction control system. TCS software is designed for ride quality, and compensates for rear tyre wear.
Yamaha’s D-Mode System offers three throttle response maps (Standard, A, and for riding preference. An electronic quick-shifter is available as an option for clutchless full-throttle upshift. The dashboard still sports a big analog tachometer. The digital LCD info panel shows added info for TCS and other functions.
YZF-R6 has LED turn signals within rear view mirrors. In keeping with the R1 look, twin LED headlights remain. The cowl and windscreen are redesigned. The seat’s redesigned and sits on a Controlled-Fill die-cast magnesium rear frame. A slimmer subframe and flatter seat alleviates riding position and makes for better aerodynamics.
New Yamaha R6 borrows much from the R1. This includes aluminium four-piston brake callipers, which are fitted with 320mm brake discs. Suspension and brakes are reworked. The R1’s larger 43mm KYB inverted fork , and 25mm axle make for grounded braking and cornering. The new KYB rear shock is identical too with four-way adjustability. New ABS is offered as standard on the new R6.
The new aluminium fuel tank is 2.7 pounds lighter, and is designed with knee recesses for tighter rider grip. 2018 Yamaha YZF-R6 is available in three colours: Intensity White/Matte Silver, Matte Raven Black, and Team Yamaha Blue.
