Next gen Honda Civic sedan spied in the US without camouflage

The 10th gen Civic is the most ambitious remake in its 43-year old history, says Honda.

The next gen Honda Civic sedan which is getting ready to go on sale in the US later this year has been spotted without any camouflage in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The 10th iteration of the iconic sedan is described by its creator as the “most ambitious remake” in the nameplate’s 43 year history.

One look at the sedan and you would agree with Honda’s statement. The Toyota Corolla slayer has nothing in common with its predecessor and has a well balanced and sporty appearance, helped by boomerang shaped taillights, hexagonal design elements such as rear license plates and pseudo air intakes, a fastback-like steeply racked rear windshield, swooping roofline and chrome swathed front fascia.

The car is expected to be slightly bigger than the outgoing model and hence would have more interior space. Honda will offer optional LED headlights. Three-door Civic Coupe (previewed by a near production concept earlier this year) and 5-door hatchback variants are also in the offing.

Honda has announced that the 2016 Civic will debut a new 1.5-litre turbocharged i-VTEC petrol engine which is claimed to offer enough efficiency to make normal CNG and hybrid cars look outdated. Honda will also introduce another engine in the Civic but is keeping the details close to its chest as of now.

The next gen Honda Civic will make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 tomorrow.
